→ The Bragg Brothers On The Story Of Chance, Skill, And Parallels In Pinball: The Man Who Saved The Game Starring Mike Faist, Crystal Reed, And Dennis Boutsikaris
Austin: The only improv we did have was between Mike and Connor at the adult bookstore. Meredith: Connor Ratliff is honestly one of the most gifted improvisers working today, and Mike was excited to have him on set. We structured the day so we could give ourselves a little bit of improv time, just to see what happened. You never know when something like that’s going to occur. Austin: We didn’t have enough. Meredith: We didn’t have enough time but we got about twenty minutes. Austin: We got something. Meredith: We did get something so we got to use it. It was that, “Don’t write that in your thing,” line. That was Connor and Mike just sort of having fun at the end of the day.

I've heard your take is that "games are superior to films but lesser than Pinball machines" I must ask for all the details of this powerful take and its formation that's a crazy thing to say and I'm so here for it
Games are superior to films because games you can play in the computer whereas films you need an entire projector and that's just not very practical 😔
But pinball machines are superior to both, because the erratic behaviour of the ball in a pinball machine reminds us of our own lack of control on the world around us. We may think we know where we're going when we first pull that ball shooter, but life will bounce us around in unplanned and wild directions as we are but small plastic balls completely at the whim of gravity and propulsion. And although we may be able to influence our own direction in minimal ways with the paddles, we cannot predict with any true accuracy the directions we will go. And the only thing that's for certain is that eventually our time or luck will run out. And we will end up in the proverbial trough and it's game over.
The pinball machine is the purest of the three to reflect our own mortality, stripped away of the trappings of characters, music or plot. We are left only with the meaningless cacophony of the pinball machine's case, our own world in miniature. It leaves no room for confusion or misinterpretation of its function or intent. And yet despite this possible nihilistic mirror, we view the pinball machine as an object of fun and entertainment. We find joy in feeding it hard earned money just for the joy of bouncing around in its miniature cage of bright colours and lights, doing our best to be able to play as long as possible. For no goal or greater purpose, other than the joy of experiencing it.

Fun fact about Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game, Roger Sharpe actually played the Pinball scenes in Mike's stead—except, the winning shot of the film. Mike Faist pulled the plunger and got it on the first take (and then never again afterwards). That take was the one they used for the film.

Okay listeninnnn why don't artists make full concept albums with full concept narratives for which they make full fucking FILMS anymore. Bonus points for random covers of singles by other Big Name artists. Sorry the 70s truly DID do this better actually and give us back cinematic album releases!!!
